Kate: My niece, Janice, will turn five this spring. I went window-shopping one day and this cute little pink skirt caught my eye and I just had to buy it! I hope she’ll like it. She’s really the apple of my eye. But her mom and I, we don’t see eye to eye on our taste for clothes.
Hanako: Sorry Kate, could you repeat everything?
catch one’s eye: 目に留まる
「It was her beautiful long hair that caught my eye at the party yesterday.」
the apple of my eye: 目に入れても痛くないほどとてもかわいがっている人。秘蔵っ子
「My five-year-old grandchild is the apple of my eye.」
see eye to eye: 意見が一致する、対面する
「It’s difficult for me to pair up with Jack as we do not see eye to eye on/over/about our business strategies.」
